Kevin J. Curtis

Kevin’s practice focuses primarily in the areas of criminal defense, complex civil litigation and professional negligence. He was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers, the legal profession’s most prestigious organization, in 2015.

Criminal Practice: Kevin’s career has spanned four decades, in which he has successfully handled some of Eastern Washington’s highest profile cases including:
- Joseph Andrews double- homicide death penalty case
- Exoneration and release of Jeramie Davis, wrongfully convicted of First Degree Murder, in conjunction with the Innocence Project
- Spokane’s first “mercy killing” case
- Non-prosecution of Valley View fire suspect (over $50 million in damages)
- Dismissal of federal drug charges in the Eight Trey Crips 62 defendant indictments
- Dismissal of all federal charges in the CH2M Hanford fraud indictment (19 charges)
- Non-prosecution in alleged assault of WSU professor
Kevin has served as the President of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Washington Defenders Association. Kevin has been retained as an expert in criminal cases and civil actions involving criminal law.
Civil Practice: Kevin has represented clients, including Fortune 500 companies in broad areas of commercial and business litigation, professional negligence and discipline, and class action lawsuits. He has obtained jury verdicts and settlements in excess of a million dollars on plaintiff cases and has obtained defense verdicts and dismissals in multimillion dollar lawsuits including:
- Defense verdict in 64 million dollar lawsuit against a Big Four accounting firm
- Jury verdict of 1.7 million dollars in plaintiff sexual assault trial verdict
- Dismissal of multimillion dollar wrongful death action
- Class counsel in multiple class action cases obtaining multimillion dollar settlements
- Defense counsel in dismissal of multimillion dollar class action settlements
